Ms. Marvel Ended Up Being the Best Thing on Disney+ This Year

A self-professed “history geek,” Obaid-Chinoy says she’s gotten messages this month from South Asian families detailing conversations about that era they’d never had with each other until they watched the show.“People lost grandparents, great-grandparents; people have unfinished conversations with best friends,” Obaid-Chinoy says.(As Kamala’s mother, Muneeba, notes, “every family has a Partition story, and none of them are good.”) When the original Ms. Marvel comic, created by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona, came out in 2014 it was hailed as the first of its kind, specifically the first monthly Marvel series to star a Muslim woman as its hero. The show’s depiction of the Partition also puts something onscreen that Hollywood has rarely visualized, says Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, an Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker who directed the season’s penultimate episodes. And her superhero history goes back to 1947, when India gained independence from British rule and the Partition divided the area into Muslim-majority Pakistan and Hindu-majority India, causing one of the greatest migrations ever. But while Steve Rogers was turned into Captain America to fight in World War II and the Eternals (somewhat ham-fistedly) touched on world-historic atrocities, Kamala Khan’s narrative brings that connection to the past down to the ground level. Her grandmother lives in Karachi and, as Ms. Marvel showed in episodes 4 and 5, was a young girl when her family fled to Pakistan. It featured, of course, a mid-credits scene teasing a future movie tie-in; the hero saved her community and had a loving moment with her family. When you think about bringing a superhero into that world, where there’s pain and trauma associated with it, you have to do it in a manner that brings dignity.”Comics Alliance said it was perhaps “the most important comic” published that year. Ms. Marvel is, in many ways, the quintessential comics origin story:Kamala's superpowers turn out to be rooted, in a way, in her family's Partition story. But thanks in large part to Iman Vellani, the 19-year-old actor who plays Kamala, the character is fully three-dimensional in a way that many on-screen superheroes aren’t.“It came with a great responsibility to create Partition because so many lives were connected to it.

Discord voice chats are finally coming to Xbox consoles, but it's complicated

Discord Because the entire process works through a series of hand-offs, you’ll then need to download the Xbox mobile app.The feature allows Discord users on Xbox, PC and mobile to join the same voice channel, thereby making it easier to communicate when playing cross-platform games like Halo Infinite .To talk with your friends, join a voice channel through Discord, where you'll see a new “Join on Xbox” button. If you previously did that so that your Discord contacts could see your Gamertag , you’ll need to do so again to grant the app voice permissions on your Xbox console.Click or tap the cog icon, navigate to the “Connections” menu, select the Xbox icon and then follow the on-screen instructions.Tap that and the Xbox app will automatically open on your phone, solely to ask what console it should forward the call audio to.

Amazon Prime Video finally gets a desperately needed redesign

The new look will be familiar to anyone who has used Netflix, Peacock, or other popular streaming services of late: It's a vertically scrolling series of categories, each of which is a horizontally scrolling list of shows and movies. Advertisement Content that is available as part of Prime has a subtle blue checkmark on the bottom-left corner of the key art. The updated interface is rolling out to Android and popular streaming TV platforms like Roku, Apple TV, and of course Amazon Fire TV this week. At first glance, the redesign is all about modernizing the look and making the experience more similar to what you get with just about every other streaming service. The main navigation bar has moved to the left side of the screen, allowing easier access as you scroll. That content, alongside the redesign, could help Amazon Prime Video gain some renewed attention in a streaming video landscape where Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max tend to attract more buzz. But it also addresses one of the biggest user complaints that isn't just about looks: It offers a more elegant way to tell which videos are available free to Prime subscribers, and which ones you have to pay a la carte for.Amazon Prime Video may have a compelling value proposition and some great original series to watch, but its interface has always been hideous compared to what competitors offer. According to Variety and The Verge, Amazon has been working on the redesign for 18 months.

Steve Jobs’s signature is part of an amazing tech autograph collection up for bid

advertisement His goal with getting the recordings into schools and libraries, he says, is “not to generate income from it, but just to make sure that they’re there. advertisement advertisement Charles Mann was also in the house that night. In 2021, the auction house sold a signed 1983 Jobs letter—in which he slyly refuses an autograph request—for $480,000. advertisement The auction will go online this Friday at 11 a.m. EDT and close on August 18. advertisement Even in the 1980s, Jobs’s obsessive perfectionism was the stuff of legend.Signed by Steve Jobs Just as Jobs’s NeXT presentation may be the single most significant Powersharing recording, his contract, which he signed on February 16, 1989 at NeXT, is the flagship of the upcoming auction.“My happiest moment was getting a letter back from somebody in his office saying, ‘we thought the tape was very good and here’s Steve’s release,'” he says. After putting the project aside for decades, Mann returned to it in recent years: Working with tech historian Tom Frikker, he digitized 134 of his recordings and began selling them on a $60 USB drive. They’re already available in the permanent collection of the Computer History Museum, but he’d also like universities and libraries to license them for use by professors, students, and other researchers—today, and for many years into the future.Online auctioneer RR Auction will be putting the contract Jobs signed and dozens of others up for bid, mostly in lots bundling multiple items. All along, he saw his recording efforts as an act of historical preservation as much as a business: “The amount of sales was minuscule compared to what I put into it,” he says.He was recording Jobs’s show for distribution as part of the Powersharing Series, an audio-cassette series of presentations made at the BCS, other user group meetings, and Boston’s Computer Museum by tech-industry notables. He also preserved a trove of documents relating to the undertaking, including the releases that speakers signed granting permission to use their presentations.Having never made much money selling the Powersharing Series on tape and USB drive, he could find the auction to be the most remunerative aspect of the whole experience.Among those represented by their signatures: Bill Gates, futurist Esther Dyson, Pixar cofounder Alvy Ray Smith, Jobs’s Apple partner Steve Wozniak, other Apple notables such as John Sculley and Bill Atkinson, AI eminences including Seymour Papert and Ray Kurzweil, all-around visionary Alan Kay, portable computer pioneer Adam Osborne, spreadsheet inventor Dan Bricklin, Borland founder Philippe Kahn, PC kingpin Michael Dell, and Sony’s Akio Morita. He sees the auction as a way to generate publicity for the Powersharing Series, and plans to spend some of any profit to help spread the word.I’ve long since given up on recovering funds from [the recordings], unless this auction unexpectedly strikes fire.In 2020, I wrote about Jobs’s demo and Mann’s recordings, and shared the NeXT audio in its entirety along with other Powersharing excerpts.(That letter is included with the release in RR’s auction.)That makes any surviving Jobs signature a sought-after rarity, and RR Auction has developed something of a specialty in them.

Here are the 10 best movies and series about developers

… These developer movies and series aren’t listed in any particular order, they’re just in my top ten. The criteria to meet this list was pretty straightforward, the movie (or series) had to feature a programmer as the protagonist (or antagonist), not a supporting character like those used to hack the mainframe (looking at you Mission Impossible). Last year we put together a list of the best hacking movies, and obviously, the next logical step from there was to catalog the coolest movies and series about developers. Anyway, there are six seasons to binge so if you have some time on your hands and want to sit back and laugh at characters with huge personalities talking about programming and startups, plus experience the exaggerated tech cliques of Silicon Valley companies like Google and Facebook, then this is the show for you! Silicon Valley is an HBO original comedy series, about a group of programmers in Silicon Valley starting a tech company based around a new compression technology. Whatever your feelings are towards the tech giant and its great track record of user privacy, I think you’ll appreciate this film since it’s not a glorification of Zuckerberg but really a story about friendship and betrayal. A programmer from a huge tech company wins a competition and gets to spend a week with the CEO of the tech company. Without taking any more of your time, here are my top 10 picks for the best developer movies and series that I’ve seen. This one is pure nostalgia, bright lights, and animation — but I think it’s still a fun movie. The Social Network, more like the un-social network if you ask me… I can’t wait to live in a pod and eat bugs in the Metaverse. It’s also HBO and created by Mike Judge (Office Space and King of The Hill), so they can get away with dark humour, sexual innuendo, and the f-word (if that’s still a taboo these days) — which makes the show far more entertaining in my opinion. The film is partly based on a book written by the co-founder of Wikileaks who seems to have had a falling out with Assange, so keep that in mind as you watch it. I’m not a big bio-pic guy, so Snowden was never on my radar, but I forced myself to sit through it this week just because it kept popping up and had some pretty high reviews. The IT Crowd is a classic which you’ve probably seen, but I’m still adding it to this list for anyone that might have missed this British sitcom. The reviews on this one are mixed, but I enjoyed the film mostly because it’s still relevant and Julian Assange is still making headlines and pissing off politicians even from his prison cell. Office Space is awesome and, even though it’s two decades old, the underlying message is still relevant to a lot of people today. This is not a spoiler but if you pay close attention you’ll see the characters constantly drinking Club Mate (a terrible drink but typical Berlin), which I thought was a really funny easter egg. This AI takes the form of a beautiful robot girl (Google, take notes) and I’m sure you can imagine what happens next… 6. This one’s about a programmer who hates his boring office job and one day just decides not to work anymore. Assange was a programmer, and his partner in crime Daniel Domscheit-Berg was also a programmer. The dialogue is great, the soundtrack is thrilling, and the coolest thing is that all these guys are still around today. The IT Crowd is a British sitcom about two tech geeks working for Reynholm Industries. I also didn’t know that Edward Snowden was 29 when he blew the lid on the US government. Ex Machina is focused on AI and the kinds of things Elon Musk has been warning us about for years.Mr. Robot (2015-2019) Anarchist hackers. Snowden was directed by Oliver Stone, who also did Platoon and Wall Street, and it features a bit of Nicolas Cage’s bombastic acting which we’ve all grown to love. This article was originally published on .cult by Eli McGarvie. So, after putting in hours and hours of screentime watching all of these so-called ‘developer films’ from the last two decades, I’m pretty confident I’ve got a solid list of movies that will meet most of your expectations (I hope). Yeah, just kidding this is film trash. I only recently (yesterday) found out that Tron: Legacy is a sequel. Hope you enjoy the flix ✌️ I found it had a Matrix vibe in the first season. 4.We write about all things career-related, make original documentaries and share heaps of other untold developer stories from around the world. We write about all things career-related, make original documentaries, and share heaps of other untold developer stories from around the world. 10.😂 9.We write about all things career-related, make original documentaries (show all) .cult by Honeypot is a Berlin-based community platform for developers. 1. 2. 3. 5. 7. 8. What’s that?Sam is pulled into his father’s video-game-like world in search of his long-lost father and is immediately thrown into digital combat scenarios and motocross racing as he discovers the hidden secrets of his father’s past. You’ve got a cyber security engineer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who’s pulled from his corporate world into the shadowy underground of exposing corporate corruption with a team of anarchist hackers all the while dealing with delusions and paranoia which overlap to create a mixed reality. You’ll find similarities between this movie and The Fifth Estate because they deal with similar topics like digital privacy and government overreach.Maybe you’ve seen The Mighty Boosh or Toast of London, it’s got a lot of familiar faces and similar situational humour, which is a breath of fresh air compared to comedies these days. He’s taken out to this retreat in Alaska (basically in the middle of nowhere) to meet his reclusive boss, only to find out that he’s not there to chill but participate in a strange experiment with the world’s first AI (similar to what Google’s doing with DeepMind…).

FIFA 23 on PC has feature parity with PS5 and Xbox Series versions

On Wednesday, Electronic Arts opened pre-orders for FIFA 23, revealing that the PC edition this year is based on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions and includes cross-play with those versions. Comparing the Steam pages for FIFA 22 and FIFA 23 shows the new game indeed has dramatically raised its system specs. The upgrade means FIFA 23 will introduce EA's HyperMotion to PC, which mainly translates to improved animations. That deficit ends with FIFA 23, but the PC market faces unique technical and market challenges for sports games. FIFA 23 will also introduce women's club football and the Women's World Cup to the franchise.Popular sports simulators like FIFA tend to support older consoles for a long time – the last PlayStation 3 FIFA was FIFA 19 – because of their vast user base.Players can also expect the dramatic graphics enhancements console users received when transitioning to the new generation in 2020. EA held back FIFA's tech on PC to keep the minimum system requirements down due to its large and diverse audience.

Ryan Haines / Android Authority The main casualty of the Pixel 6a’s smaller design, and the adoption of the Tensor chip, is the battery. When stacked against its mid-range competition, the Pixel 6a shines even brighter. The Pixel 6a carries an in-display optical fingerprint sensor like its Pixel 6 siblings, but fear not — it’s not the same sensor. The Pixel 6a packs a 6.1-inch flat OLED display, the smallest of the Pixel 6 family, and the smallest on the Pixel A series since the Pixel 4a. Shrunk like a Pixel 6 that's been left in the sun too long, the Pixel 6a is the perfect size for one-handed use. The Google Pixel 6a pulls some of the best Pixel 6 features into a smaller and more affordable package. Ryan Haines / Android Authority When Google lands on a design, it tends to stick around for a while.Same SoC as Pixel 6 Pro $449.00 at Google Store Google’s Pixel 6a starts at $449 in the US, right where the Pixel 5a sat last year. The Google Pixel 6a comes in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of fixed storage. Is the Google Pixel 6a the best budget camera phone? Overall, the Pixel 6a’s camera setup is still a leader in the mid-range segment. The Pixel 6a has a high-style design, but its cameras are more like an old, reliable pair of sneakers. The Pixle 5a’s main camera is a step back from the heights of the Pixel 6 series, though the 12.2MP primary’s capabilities have already been on display in their appearances on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 series, while the 12MP ultrawide is borrowed directly from the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Overall, the Pixel 6a feels great in hand, and the series’ unique design still shines even with the cost-cutting adjustments. I used the Pixel 6a’s primary camera for the bulk of my shooting, and it delivers results worthy of the Pixel name. When you do manage to burn through the Pixel 6a’s battery, you’ll have to turn to 18W wired charging to get back on your feet. The Pixel 6a stacks well against its mid-range rivals, not so much against its flagship sibling. While the Pixel 6a takes a few steps forward in the mid-range space, it’s up against some stiff competition. The new Tensor chip is a hallmark of the Pixel 6 series, but the 12.2MP main camera is a callback to Pixels past. In good news for global buyers, the Pixel 6a is also far more widely available than the Pixel 5a. The Pixel 6a sings through daily tasks like email, web browsing, and social media without any issue. The wired charging is a little slower than what Google offers with the Pixel 6 series, and there’s no wireless option to take advantage of. Though the Galaxy A53 5G and Moto G Stylus 5G are worthy Android rivals within the mid-range price bracket, it’s time to talk about the elephant in the room. While the design is great, the new, smaller size is even better for small phone fans, especially those who might have been put off by the Pixel 5a’s larger size over previous Pixel A phones. Google boasts that the Pixel 6a is ready for over 24 hours on a single charge at regular usage, but I’ve had trouble matching that tally. One design trait that seems to have benefitted most from the shrinking process is the camera bar it inherits from the other Pixel 6 phones.Google Pixel 6a The Google Pixel 6a pulls some of the best Pixel 6 features into a smaller and more affordable package. The biggest competitor to the Pixel 6a is Google’s own Pixel 6 ($599), which has recently been on sale as low as $499 — just $50 shy of the Pixel 6a’s MSRP. The Google Pixel 6a launched for pre-orders on July 21, 2022, with a full launch starting on July 28. The Pixel 6a’s Power Saver is often a saving grace, and I turned to it regularly throughout my testing. Is the Google Pixel 6a smaller? The Google Pixel 6a ran on Android 12 for the duration of my testing. Google has also finally dropped the axe on the headphone jack — a first for the Pixel A series and a likely casualty of Google’s new design, though its removal is increasingly common in the budget market. Does the Pixel 6a have a headphone jack? At $349, or even $399, the Pixel 6a would be an incredible deal. As the smallest member of the Pixel 6 family, it’s no surprise that the battery capacity takes a hit. Is the Pixel 6a waterproof? Google’s mid-range phone offers stereo speakers, combining the earpiece with a down-firing unit. After a 90-minute loop at maximum brightness, the Pixel 6a drained 21% of the total battery while the Pixel 6 drained by just 6%. Google’s camera app is still fairly bare bones, with tabs for portrait mode and Night Sight but no in-depth manual controls. The Tensor chipset supports 5G networking, and my experience on Verizon’s network was smooth. The Tensor chip brings a new punch to the Pixel A series, so long as you can keep it cool. The 6.1-inch display is also much easier to use in one hand than the 6.4-inch Pixel 6 or 6.7-inch Pixel 6 Pro, and I don’t feel like I’m dislocating my thumb to reach across. With that said, if you’ve been clamoring for a smaller Pixel with the full-scale Tensor experience, this is your man… er, phone. No matter how smart Google’s processing is, a camera with a smaller, lower megapixel sensor just doesn’t let in as much light or provide as much information as something like the 50MP shooter on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.The Moto G Stylus 5G matches the Pixel 6a with a 6GB and 128GB base configuration, though you can pick it up with 8GB and 256GB if you’re determined to put the phone to the test.Learn more: Google Tensor explained Nevertheless, the Tensor is a powerful upgrade from the previous Pixel A series chips, and the performance numbers back that up. Right there to poke at Google’s flaws is the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G ($449).The best phone charging accessories Anything else?At a slightly lower price, the Pixel 6a would be the runaway top budget phone, but at $449, it loses some of its shine in the Pixel 6's looming shadow. The repeated design also means that every button and port is right where you might expect it. However, the image of a bell (below) came out almost spot-on, and you can easily see the effects of Night Sight as you slide from one side to the other. However, Google’s decision to limit the display to a 60Hz refresh rate is disappointing. As we’ve seen time and again from many brands over the last few years, the in-box contents are getting lighter. On the weekends, when I have time to be a bit more adventurous, the results suffer even more. Over on the Apple side, the iPhone SE (2022) ($429) completes our budget battle royale. There are visible bezels around all four sides of the display, and the top and bottom are slightly thicker. How is the battery life? This is a Pixel that, at any lower price point, would be just as sweet as any other. Power Saver is a must-use to overcome the Tensor's appetite for power. How is the new design? The Google Pixel 6a came in right near the premium Pixel 6 Pro on the 3DMark Wild Life test, despite having half of the overall RAM. If you want to take a closer look at the samples, check out the full-resolution images in Google Drive here.As previously noted, there’s also no headphone jack on the Pixel 6a — a change from the Pixel 5a — but there’s a decent array of Bluetooth codec supprort for wireless audio. As previously noted, there’s also no headphone jack on the Pixel 6a — a change from the Pixel 5a — but there’s a decent array of Bluetooth codec supprort for wireless audio.A sub-$400 price would also paper over some of the more notable cracks, especially the not-so-great battery life and 18W wired charging, both of which come up short of some of the Pixel 6a’s closest rivals. Software updates have become a race between Samsung and Google.Modem issues have plagued the Pixel 6 series, but I’ve had no such trouble with the Pixel 6a. Google’s Magic Eraser feature deserves a mention as well. The Pixel 6a offers a 4,410mAh cell (smaller than its predecessor) with 18W wired charging through the USB-C 3.1 gen 1 port and no wireless charging. It’s not the top dog in the budget phone world, though, as somewhat expectedly the Pixel 6a’s numbers come up short of the iPhone SE (2022)’s results thanks to Apple’s flagship A15 Bionic processor. The Pixel 6a boasts five years of “Pixel Updates,” which means five years of security patches but three years of overall Android version updates. The Pixel 6a boasts five years of “Pixel Updates,” which means five years of security patches but three years of overall Android version updates. upgrades, but the Pixel 6a is still one of the best supported budget phones you can buy.Yes, the Google Pixel 6a is smaller than the Pixel 6.However, the Pixel 6a’s main rival is Google’s own Pixel 6.Samsung crammed three cameras (and one depth sensor) onto the back panel instead of Google’s trusty twosome, yet while the main and ultrawide are good shooters, they can’t quite deliver the same consistently great snaps as the Pixel 6a.That’s not a surprising statement in itself, considering the phone’s small camera sensor, but I was surprised by the times the Pixel 6a struggled. It falls right in the sweet spot for one-handed use with its 6.1-inch OLED display, but it keeps the Pixel 6 design traits and overall build quality we’ve come to love. Some devices at a similar price point aren’t designed for portrait mode for anything but humans, but the Pixel 6a is ready to put impressive bokeh effects on just about anything.Like the Pixel 6a, the iPhone SE packs a flagship processor numbers are behind some of the Pixel 6a’s closest rivals. As an example, the shot of the cat laying on the rug is not as crisp as a daylight shot — it’s not easy to get a cat to sit still for the longer timer — but the detail and sharpness are miles ahead of most mid-range rivals and still packs solid edge detection. The Pixel 6a offers a 1-meter USB-C cable, a Quick Switch Adapter, a SIM ejector tool, and some simple paperwork in an ever-smaller box.Instead, the Pixel 6a packs an updated version that, in my experience, is far more reliable and faster. It looks and feels like a Pixel 6 first Pixel A series device to skip the headphone jack. The Pixel 6a is also smaller than the previous Pixel 5a.Both the power button and volume rocker are nestled comfortably on the right side of the Pixel 6a, but they looked off when I first opened the box.Just don’t expect any features not already seen on the Pixel 6 — this is very much the modern Pixel software experience we’ve come to expect.Just don’t expect any features not already seen on the Pixel 6 — this is very much the modern Pixel software experience we’ve come to expect. However, the most significant change this year is that the Pixel 6a now packs Google’s in-house Tensor chip.Unlike the Pixel 5a, which you could only buy officially in the US and Japan, the Pixel 6a is available in more than a dozen additional countries throughout Europe and Asia. The Pixel 6a is available in 13 countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, and and competitive — than it once was.The Google Pixel 6a ran on Android 12 for the duration of my testing. However, the Pixel 6a doesn’t come in at $349 or $399.It’s neck and neck in price with the Galaxy A53 5G, but Samsung’s device offers an extra year of Android version updates and more rear cameras to work with. The boxy Pixel 6 design was a bold step in a different direction and it’s great to see that carry over to its budget line.Let’s find out in our Google Pixel 6a review. It also delivers the latest connectivity options, with Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E onboard — that’s some impressive future-proofing for a phone at this price tier and a big improvement over the Pixel 5a.It also came close to the Pixel 6 on single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 scores. The iPhone SE (2022) skips night mode altogether, while the Galaxy A53 5G only offers it from the primary camera.Google’s Pixel 6a runs hot; really hot. It's easy to use with one hand and offers more of a processing punch than previous Pixel A phones, even if the battery life takes a big hit.In practice, it’s in line with previous Pixel A series devices, though the smaller battery cuts a few minutes off the charging time. The Pixel 6a does claim some wins, though. It’s a good pick if you need a stylus but don’t want to splash for the mega-money Galaxy S22 Ultra, but a weak update commitment, underpowered cameras, and even slower wired charging hold the Moto G Stylus 5G back for everyone else. The only thing it lacks over the Pixel 6 proper is ultra-wideband (UWB) support, but use cases are low and it’s a mostly flagship-only feature. You can pinch in for up to 7x zoom and Google’s Super Res Zoom will upscale crops from the main camera, though I found myself hesitant to reach too far past 4x.The refresh rate isn’t an entirely surprising cut, but the result is a display that falls far short of the fluidity of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G’s 120Hz panel.Google’s affordable flagship packs a bigger battery with quicker wired charging, and it puts wireless charging back on the table.

Google Pixel 6a

With its refined design, powerful processor and satisfying cameras, there are more similarities than differences between the 6a and its flagship siblings.I think it’s time we stopped seeing the Pixel A series as a “budget” line.

Ubisoft’s big day of delays, cancellations: Avatar open-world game moves to FY24

After confirming previously announced plans to launch a Mario + Rabbids sequel and the long-delayed Skull & Bones pirate-battling game, Guillemot confirmed two lengthy game delays and four game cancellations—while remaining mum about at least two games in apparent development limbo. Advertisement Guillemot took the opportunity to confirm that A:FoP presents a "major, multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft," suggesting that it could come with online game-as-a-service hooks or "expansion pack" add-ons to keep players engaged over time, much like how Ubisoft has done with pretty much every open-world game it has launched over the past eight years. We could see a firmer launch date for that game during the aforementioned September video presentation, or at the very least, anything that resembles actual gameplay; thus far, the only hint of the Avatar game's existence is an "in-engine" reveal that may not actually resemble how the game will look in real time. Following the news of two game delays, Guillemot confirmed four game cancellations in all, including two previously announced titles: Ghost Recon Frontline, a battle royale concept that had already gone into early playtesting; and Splinter Cell VR, a new, Meta Quest-exclusive entry in the longtime stealth-action series.A Reddit post from earlier this year included a video mock-up of a potential new VR game called Assassin's Creed Nexus, and its author suggested that the resulting game will offer a more linear translation of the AC series formula to VR—though its authenticity is far from confirmed.Still, the game appears to target current-gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, which could mean the game will take substantial technological leaps not available on past-gen console families. More like “The Way of the Wait” The arguably biggest news concerns a delay to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an open-world adventure game based on James Cameron's Avatar film series.Since ACVR has previously been announced, it arguably remains on Ubisoft's development docket, though the company had no further details about that game today.Without further clarification on what this project might be, we must look to reporters like Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who has previously suggested that the game in question is a standalone Assassin's Creed expansion pack. In addition, Guillemot confirmed that a "smaller, unannounced, premium game" has been bumped from Ubisoft's FY23 to its FY24.The game is now slated to launch in Ubisoft's "fiscal year 24," which could mean any time between April 2023 and March 2024. the alternative news website
